BACKGROUND: Jack Stanley was a professor in the History Department at York Prep School in New York City. He was an independent tour specialist with Uncles Sam's New York Tours for 2 years. He has become one of the better known tour guides in New York City and he has a firm grip on the history. There are many comments and reviews on Trip Advisor pertaining his work. Before he joined the company, Jack has worked tirelessly to bring awareness to Menlo Park and to the field of pioneer recorded sound. He worked at The Edison National Historic Site in West Orange, New Jersey, USA from 1993 till 1996. While there he did extensive research and would often spend the night at Edison’s Laboratory reading through many of Edison’s own books. He also studied and research Edison’s collection of private books. Many of which were filled with marginalia. Having much of the materials available for him and putting in the many hours day and night Jack did in 3 years what usually take the normal researcher 10 or more years to do. Jack also copied by hand the recording log books for the Edison Company. He spent many years interviewing everyone whom he could find who had worked with Thomas Edison. He was lucky enough to spend a number of years interviewing Theodore Edison - he was Edison's youngest son.

RECORDING PROJECTS: Jack Stanley started the Thomas A. Edison Historic Recording Project in 1999. This unique recording project records people who have influenced the 20th century and the world. The recordings are made onto original Edison wax recording cylinders by using the same process of recording that Thomas Edison used. The project has been honored all over the world and contains some of histories most famous voices. Such as President Gerald R. Ford, Senator Bob Dole, Gov. Thomas Kean, Mayor Edward I Koch, Walter Cronkite, Buzz Aldrin, Isaac Stern, Jerome Hines, Robert Merrill, Mickie Rooney, Peter Jennings, Charles Osgood, Joe Franklin, June Lockhart, Eddie Bracken, Franco Correlli, Celeste Holm and many more.
Currently, he's involved in another recording project, 'The Traveling Man'. It's a documentary about a man's quest to record different music from different countries as he travels round the world.
TELEVISION APPEARANCES: He has appeared on The History Channel in many programs, CBS Good Morning, ABC News with Peter Jennings, NBC News, many programs on PBS, Discovery (represented Thomas Edison on The Hundred Greatest Americans), and other local programs in the areas where he may be. He has also been interviewed for programs on Edison for TV broadcast in Germany, Japan, Russia, Korea and China. He appears on 'The 7 Unknown Wonders of New York' recently.
GUEST SPEAKER: Jack Stanley has served as a historical consultant for many books, magazine articles, and television programs. He is a sought after speaker at colleges, museums and historic functions. He has been to and met with staff of many museums from New Zealand to California. He was the featured speaker at the Ventura County Museum of History and Art in 2004.
