Hostel Azur (Ljubljana) - room is comfortable and clean. Could be a bit noisy at times as the restaurant and bar is just below the hostel. Hostel is not situated in the city area. It's about 15 minutes ride to city, and the last bus back is 9 pm.

Hotel Central - it's just opposite of the Main Train Station in Zagreb. The single room is small but clean and comfortable. Breakfast is included.
These friendly ladies offer private rooms at reasonable rates. Chances are you might be approached by one of them when you arrived at Split's main bus station.
Hostel Pletkovic (Split) - there are 3 rooms. My room has 4 single double-decker beds. The bath and toilet are in the room itself. Quiet and very clean. Less than 5 minutes walk to Diocletian's Castle.

Hostel Denino - the room is very nice and it's air-conditioned. Maida even served me coffee in the morning. This private accomodation is situated next to the main bus station, and it is less than 15 minutes walk to Old Town Mostar.

Marulecev Trg 3 - this is a family run private accomodation. There is a kitchen where you can cook plus a very nice backyard but if you plan to walk to Old Town, I would suggest that you get a place that is nearer.
